Embraced by the Landscape yet Liberated from Interior Walls, interior spaces feature open plans.

This project is the interior design of project number 6 in this portfolio. Nothing irrelevant or eclectic can be found in this interior design. As the Building’s envelope grows from the ground and embraces the landscape, its interior design is created with the exact origin and identity. What generates any variations in the process of these curved surfaces’ movements are functional necessities. Otherwise, the form remains loyal to its main root. A suspended ceiling, for example, accommodates air-conditioners while covering the structural ceiling with a harmonized, fluid transformation. This interior design by no means works independently.

It was paramount to the central massing of the Building to invite and spread over the landscape. Therefore, the main volume was broken into three parts exposed to the outside, and the roof moved to the ground. Although the main volume is divided, an open plan for the kitchen and dining area was part of the brief for interior design. As interpreted from the client’s desire, they wanted a modern look for the kitchen. The dining area, overlooking the garden and beneath the void, features the most convivial spot of the villa.

In terms of additional color, pattern, and texture, a few touches of each were added where they matched the general design. The color of velvet curtains and cushions reflects nature, while their matte fabric limits the bounce of light and glossiness, which are required for a house’s visual comfort and modern style. As for textures, the only embellishment is flouted MDF surfaces used where lighting could create a wall-washing and wall-grazing effect.
