The University of Tehran is not only the oldest and most prestigious university, but it has also always been a hotbed of all social, political, and scientific movements in Iran. The main site of this building got designed by Maxime Siroux, André Godard, and some other architects, and it is registered as a national heritage. Although the current buildings have been in use for a century, all the related properties have not been designed and built yet.

Undeveloped areas are all plots around the main site across the northern, eastern, western streets.  The idea of adding more spaces to the existing ones had been a source of debate until ten years ago when policymakers reached a consensus in terms of functionality and place allocations. Programming, zoning, and planning were designed by an urban consultant company, and it was named the garden of knowledge based on the designated functionality and the idea of applying the concept of the Persian garden to the design.

The architectural design of this area needed proposals from architects. Thus, in this master’s degree, our brief was to select one part of this Garden of Knowledge to get the architectural design of a specific building done. What I choose to design was a part of this plot opposite to the existing college of physics, to allocate the museum and research center of physics.

The main idea is to comply with the current zoning and inward yards. In addition to the urban proposal submitted by the urban consultant company, the existing design, which is a national heritage of modern architecture, was regarded for inspiration in functional design, the palette of colors, and the concept of ornaments.
